Electrical Services in Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Chesapeake

Our electrical services in Norfolk and the rest of South Hampton Roads cover the five jobs behind almost every call to a house in the area: fixing what has stopped working, making room in a panel that is full, adding a charger for an electric car, keeping the power on through an outage, and replacing wiring that has reached the end of its life. Each one has its own page with the details, the common causes and the questions people ask on the phone.

How every job starts

Whatever the job, the first step is the same. You book a free estimate, or an emergency call when the power is out or something smells hot, and hear the call-out rate first if it applies. The electrician looks at the problem and at the circuit around it, explains what failed and puts the price in writing. Nothing gets done until you say yes, and every circuit we touch is tested before we leave.

The five services

  • Electrical repair and emergency calls. Dead outlets, tripping breakers, flickering lights and burning smells, with the after-hours rate told to you first.
  • Panel upgrades. Full, old or warm panels replaced after a load calculation, with surge protection added while the cover is off.
  • EV charger installation. Level 2 chargers on their own circuit in the garage or on the driveway wall, with the panel checked before anything is bought.
  • Generator installation and service. Standby generators and portable hookups with a transfer switch, sized to what you want to keep running.
  • Rewiring. Two-prong, cloth-covered and aluminum branch wiring replaced room by room, with the walls patched behind us.

Repair first, upgrade when it is time

Most calls end with a repair: an outlet, a switch, a loose connection or a breaker that has worn out. An upgrade only comes up when the panel has no room left, the wiring is failing along its length, or the same fault keeps coming back. When that happens you get both numbers on the same page and the choice stays yours.

Built around older houses and storm season

Houses across the area range from early city homes in Ghent and Colonial Place to newer subdivisions in Kempsville and Greenbrier. Older homes bring small panels and ungrounded outlets, newer ones bring chargers and heat pumps the panel was never sized for, and every one of them sits in the path of summer storms and the odd hurricane. Our work is shaped by all of that, and each service page explains how.

We work in Norfolk, Virginia Beach and Chesapeake. The service area page explains what changes from city to city.

Each service, in short

  1. Electrical repair and emergency calls

Dead outlets, breakers that keep tripping, flickering lights or a burning smell: found and fixed, with the price in writing first.

Most electrical trouble starts with one tired part: a worn outlet, a loose connection or a breaker that has done its job too many times. We trace the fault before we price anything.

  2. Panel upgrades

An old or full breaker panel replaced with a larger one, so the house can carry an EV charger, a heat pump or an addition.

A panel that trips when the dryer and the microwave run together, or has no room left for a new circuit, is telling you it has reached its limit.

  3. EV charger installation

A Level 2 charger in the garage or on the driveway wall, on its own circuit, with the panel checked before anything is bought.

A Level 2 charger fills most car batteries overnight, but it needs a dedicated circuit and room in the panel.

  4. Generator installation and service

A standby generator or a safe hookup for a portable one, with a transfer switch so the power comes back on in an outage.

A standby generator starts on its own when the power goes out. A portable one needs an inlet and a transfer switch so it can run the circuits you choose, safely.

  5. Rewiring

Old wiring that sparks, runs warm or can't carry a modern kitchen, replaced room by room with the walls patched behind us.

Older houses often have wiring that was never meant for today's appliances, and some have cloth-covered or aluminum wiring that needs a closer look.

What every quote includes

Every job gets the same written quote, whether it needs one new outlet or a whole new panel, so you can hold it up against anyone else's.

  • A look at the whole circuit, not just the outlet you noticed
  • A load calculation before any panel or charger work
  • Parts, labor, wall openings and the permit, each priced on its own line
  • Repair and upgrade side by side when either would do
  • The inspection booked and passed before the job is closed

From your call to the lights back on

  1. Book a free estimate

Call, text or use the form. Tell us what the lights or the panel are doing and we give you a time. When the power is out or something smells hot, the call goes to the front of the list.

  2. We find the cause

The electrician checks the whole circuit, not just the outlet you noticed, and tells you what failed in plain words. For planned work, the load calculation comes first.

  3. Get a written price

You get the price of the work in writing before any of it starts. If an upgrade makes more sense than a repair, you see both prices on one page and decide for yourself.

  4. We fix it and test it

We do the work, pull the permit with the city when it needs one, test every circuit we touched and show you it's working before we leave.

Questions about our services

  • Which service do I book if I am not sure what is wrong?

Book a free estimate and describe what you are seeing. The visit starts the same way whichever service it leads to, and the electrician tells you which one fits, or that nothing needs fixing yet.

  • Can one visit cover a repair now and a price for later?

Yes. Ask for both and the quote shows them side by side. Plenty of owners fix today's dead outlet and keep the panel or rewire figures on file for when they are ready.

  • Do you install fixtures and chargers I bought myself?

Often, yes. Tell us the light, fan or charger when you book, and the electrician checks it suits the circuit before fitting it. If the rating is wrong for your panel, we say so before anything goes on the wall.

  • Do you do commercial electrical work?

No. We work on houses, townhomes and condos only. For a store, a restaurant or an office building we are glad to tell you who we would call.
